Travel to the Edge of space
where the sky is black above and blue below
in the legendary MiG-29 "Fulcrum"

What It's Like:
Edge of Space
~ by adventure travel photographer Max

"I can feel the acceleration and enormous
power of the engines behind me. I actually feel (and look)
like an astronaut. My body is completely protected by
a special G-suit. With a full-face helmet, hermetically
closed, I breathe only 100% pure oxygen pumped inside.
I'm strapped into the ejection seat in the front cockpit
. Alexander is in a separate cockpit, behind and above
me. We can't see each other, we can only talk via the
radio. But we don't talk much anyway. As we climb higher
and higher, the view becomes more and more breathtaking,
almost surrealistic. I've never seen anything like it
before. Among all the instruments in front of me, I pay
attention to only two: the speed indicator which shows
Mach 2,8 and the needle on the altimeter rises to number
27,000. In other words, we are flying with the speed of
more than 3000 km/h at an altitude of 27 kilometers- almost
three times higher than Boeing 747 normally flies or,
say, more than three times as high as Mt. Everest!"
How High Can
You Fly?
You'll fly to a virtual "no man's land",
where few aircraft are capable of flying. You'll need
to wear a pressure suit and you'll see the curvature of
the earth. The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics
refers to the altitude as "near space".
FLY
THE MiG-29 UB "FULCRUM"
American company Incredible Adventures has been offering flights
in the legendary MiG-29 since 1993.
The jet is best known for its aerobatic ability but is also capable
of flying to the Edge of Space and providing an incredible view
of the curvature of the earth.

FLY THE MIG-31
"FOXHOUND"
The
MiG-31 E is was built
as the successor to the high-flying MiG-25. Like the MiG-25,
it can take you to the Edge of Space, but the airframe
was redesigned for better supersonic flying at low altitudes.
The Foxhound is an extremely advanced aircraft and during
a combat mission a single MiG-31 E can track up to 10
targets.
The MiG-25 "FOXBAT C"
This
plane can take you to the Edge of Space. It's capable
of Mach 3.2 speed and rising to a height of 80,000 feet...where
the sky is black above and blue below.
